Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin Introduces More Characters

Square Enix provided new details and screenshots for the upcoming Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin. The update introduces three new characters — Sophia, Astos, and Tiamat — as well as providing new details on locations and the game’s job system.

Sophia is the fifth warrior who joins Jack and the Warriors of Light. She is said to have the same unwavering conviction in defeating Chaos as the rest of the group. Astos is the king of the dark elves. He is said to know the location of the crystals and is aware of Jack and his allies’ exploits. Finally, Tiamat is the Fiend of Wind. It uses its long necks and tail to attack, uses special wind-based abilities including a breath attack from its multiple heads.

Jack and his companions can be assigned different combat roles, referred to as Jobs. Jack is able to seamlessly switch between two Jobs during combat. Players begin with access to basic Jobs, such as Swordsman, Mage, and Pugilist. Job Points obtained by defeating enemies and levelling up are used to unlock abilities as well as new advanced Jobs. Finally, the screenshots show three new locations: The Western Keep, an ancient castle where players will find themselves assaulted by giant arrows; Crystal Mirage, a translucent tower that contains devices that react to magic, and The Flying Fortress, a castle that floats in the sky and contains remnants of a highly-advanced civilisation.

Stanger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin is a reimagining of the first title in the Final Fantasy series developed by Team Ninja. The game is in development for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S and is set to be released on March 18, 2022.
