Developer Diary Details The Vale: Shadow of the Crown’s Creation

Ahead of its release next week, developer Falling Squirrel put out a new developer diary video detailing the creation of its audio-only RPG The Vale: Shadow of the Crown. The video includes contributions from consultant Martin Courcelles and actor Ramay Amuthan and explains how the game uses assistive technologies and input from the visually-impaired community to make it accessible.

The Vale: Shadow of the Crown will launch on August 19, 2021 for PC via Steam and Xbox One, with an Epic Games Store PC release to follow shortly after. The game follows Alex, a princess who is blind from birth and whose elder brother has recently ascended to the throne. Given the position of warden of a castle on the outskirts of the kingdom, the protagonist’s journey is interrupted by an invading force and she finds herself alone needing to find supplies and allies in order to get home through a dark valley known as The Vale. Those looking to read more about The Vale: Shadow of the Crown can check out Zach Welhouse’s interview and impression of the game from 2019.
