The Elder Scrolls Online Previews Its Companions
Bethesda Softworks has released new information regarding the upcoming Companions coming to The Elder Scrolls Online. Arriving in the Blackwood chapter, the Companions system lets players select an AI-controlled partner that accompanies them. Two Companions will be available, Mirri Elendis and Bastian Hallix, whom players will be able to customize.
Companions will be able to fill all the roles available to players, like tanking, healing, damage-dealing, or hybridized combat roles. They aren’t meant to be replacements for other players and are not as strong, but will be complementary to players. Companions’ gear can also be customized, including the ability to wear many of the player’s clothing options. The relationship between the player and Mirri and Bastian can also develop in different ways as the two will respond differently to choices the player makes. For more information, the detailed post can be found here.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood is the second chapter of the year-long Gates of Oblivion event, following up on the Flames of Ambition chapter. Blackwood will release on June 1, 2021, for PC, Mac, and Stadia. The PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S versions will arrive on June 8, 2021, with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S upgrades available to owners of the respective previous-generation version for free.
