Ys IX: Monstrum Nox Introduces Playable Cast

NIS America released a new English trailer for Nihon Falcom’s Ys IX: Monstrum Nox. The two-minute video shows the game’s playable characters — who are known by their code names Crimson King (Adol), White Cat, Doll, Hawk, and Renegade — as well as other major character Aprilis. The video also shows the special powers that each character uses to overcome environmental obstacles in the game.

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox takes place in the “prison city” of Balduq. The city was recently annexed by the Romun Empire and Adol finds himself imprisoned there. In prison, a mysterious woman named Aprilis turns him into a Monstrum, a being with supernatural Gifts and the power to exorcise monsters. Adol teams up with other Monstrums to fight against the creatures emerging from a dimension called the Grimwald Nox and to investigate the Monstrum curse and its relation to Balduq. Ys IX: Monstrum Nox will launch for PlayStation 4 in North America on February 2, 2021, with the European release following on February 5, 2021. The game will also be released for PC and Nintendo Switch in the summer of 2021.
