Sega Holds Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis TGS Livestream

During TGS Online, Sega hosted a livestream presentation for the upcoming Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis. The hour-long presentation features plenty of gameplay footage, including character creation, combat, and exploration.

New Genesis is a new game that will run alongside Phantasy Star Online 2, with both games being free-to-play MMORPGs. It will offer players a brand-new adventure taking place “1,000 years after Oracle’s battle”. It takes place on a wide-open field with time and weather cycles and will feature brand new game systems, a new graphics engine, and improved character customisation. Player characters will be able to switch between the two games, with the core Phantasy Star Online 2 graphics to be overhauled to work with the enhanced New Genesis options. However, character growth such as levels, experience, and skills cannot be carried over.

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is currently planned for release in 2021 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Windows 10 in North America, and for PC and PlayStation 4 in Japan. Japan will also receive cloud versions for Nintendo Switch and PC.
