RPG Cast – Episode 542: “Hell House? Hold My Beer”
There’s not a ton of news right now, which isn’t a big surprise considering the current challenges of making games. Instead we deep dive into our current games, with Jonathan, Josh, Kelley and Peter leading the charge. Anna Marie and Chris share hosting duties to wrap up this week’s panel.
Question of the Week
Which series’ development team would you like see tackle a new IP?

I know P-Studio was mentioning a new IP a couple of years ago and I’d like to see what becomes of that, especially since it was more of a medieval fantasy as opposed to their usual modern bent.
QOTW: If you’d asked me a week ago I’d have said the “Tales of” dev team, but then they just recently showed that they are with Scarlet Nexus. So, instead, I’m just gonna parrot the answer of Platinum Games. Even when they experiment and don’t produce a blockbuster, the game’s they make are at least interesting and fun to play… most of the time.
QotW: I’d love to see Eiji Aonuma’s Breath of the Wild team tackle a new IP. If they can do that with Zelda, what would happen if they really were let off the reins? (Please finish BotW2 first, though…)
I’d have said Monolithsoft too, but they’re already apparently working on a new IP. So let’s throw Intelligent Systems into the mix instead, before they burn out on Fire Emblem.
I also wanted to say Monolithsoft, so instead, maybe the Devil Survivor team instead. I think at least a few of the devs worked on Tokyo Mirage Sessions, but that’s Megami Tensei adjacent. It would be neat to see them tackle an RPG unrelated to MegaTen.
FYI, I’m cheating. I wonder what BOTH the PokĂ©mon & Yo-Kai Watch teams could come up with. Take away the hundreds of legacy monsters and the decade(s) of anime and games and lock them both in separate rooms & see the two games they come up with.
I’ll cheat, too. I’m sad that AlphaDream is gone; I wish they could get back together and create literally any IP.
