Action RPG Yaga Gets Bad Fate Update

Versus Evil and Breadcrumbs Interactive have released a major update for their action RPG rooted in Slavic folktales, Yaga. The Bad Fate update adds two new game modes for Ivan to take on Likho, the one who severed his hand: Story Mode for those wishing to focus on the narrative, and Hardcore Mode for a greater challenge that includes permadeath. Other improvements include a fast travel system, faster movement speed, improved enemy AI, an overhauled Bad Luck system, and tweaks to the crafting system, including the ability to imbue weapons with runes. A full overview of the improvements can be found on the publisher’s page. The Bad Fate update is available now on Apple Arcade and Epic Games Store, and will make its way to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch later this year.

Yaga is inspired by Slavic folklore and follows Ivan, a one-handed blacksmith cursed with bad luck. He is watched over by the witch Baba Yaga while he takes on numerous impossible tasks from the tzar. The game aims to encourage replayability with multiple endings, different possible ways of completing encounters, and various decisions and upgrade paths for Ivan that affect his story, reputation, and how he fights.
