Blue Protocol Receiving Closed Beta

Bandai Namco announced that its upcoming online action RPG Blue Protocol will be receiving a closed beta on PC in Japan. The four-day beta will include 50,000 selected players and run at the end of March 2020, with applications opening on February 12, 2020.

The company also released a new trailer for the game and provided a few details on some of its characters. The customiseable player character is someone who has lost their memories and adventures the world and is joined by a demihuman named Fest who enjoys playing tricks on people. Jake is a self-proclaimed top-tier adventurer who is skilled but seems a little untrustworthy, while Ainlein is a mysterious, quiet girl that players come across multiple times. Finally, Eilinze is a woman who appeared in the world and claims to be from elsewhere in space and time; she is protected by her bodyguard Thyris.

Blue Protocol is being developed by a team featuring members of Bandai Namco Online and Bandai Namco Studios. The game is set on the planet Regnus, which used to be ruled by a group of god-like beings known as the Bapharian Divines. It takes place many years after this period, with the remains of the Bapharian civilisation relegated to treasures and ruins. The planet is filled with a mystical light known as Engram, and supposedly harbours a dark secret referred to as the Planetary Beast. No announcement has been made regarding a western release.
