The Elder Scrolls Online Goes to the Dark Heart of Skyrim

ZeniMax Online Studios held a presentation at HyperX Esports Arena, where it detailed its upcoming plans for MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online. Like 2019’s “Season of the Dragon”, 2020 will see the studio introducing multiple pieces of themed content, this time built around the “Dark Heart of Skyrim” storyline.

The first quarter of the year will introduce a free prologue quest to the storyline, as well as the Harrowstorm DLC dungeon pack. Harrowstorm will launch in March 2020 and will be available to those with an active ESO Plus subscription, or can be purchased using Crowns (in-game currency that can be purchased with real money). The pack will contain two new dungeons — Icereach and Unhallowed Grave — and its event will lead directly into the storyline of The Elder Scrolls Online’s next major expansion, Greymoor.

Greymoor will be released for PC and Mac on May 18, 2020, and on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on June 2, 2020. The new chapter takes players to a brand new zone, Western Skyrim, as they help defend the Nords from a beastly force led by a Vampire Lord. The expansion will include a new twelve-player Trial titled Kyne’s Aegis as well as new quests and dungeons. It will introduce a new Antiquities system, where players act as an archaeologist and uncover lost artifacts scattered across Tamriel, and new world events known as Harrowstorms.

Greymoor will be available in multiple editions, digital and physical. A physical Collector’s Edition will include a Vampire Lord statue, a set of four collector’s Coins, an exclusive SteelBook case, a map of Western Skyrim, and one month of ESO Plus, as well as multiple in-game items.

ZeniMax Online Studios announced that two other major content releases will be added in the second half of 2020. The third quarter of the year will see the launch of another dungeon pack, while the final quarter will feature the release of new story DLC.
