Phantasy Star Online 2 Closed Beta Set for February 7

Microsoft and Sega have announced the dates for the first closed beta period for MMORPG Phantasy Star Online 2. The beta will start on February 7, 2020, at 5pm PST and end on February 8, 2020, at 11:59pm PST. The beta be available to install from February 3, 2020, and those looking to participate will need to sign up through the Xbox Insider Hub app, with the beta available exclusively on Xbox One to players from the United States and Canada. Special quests, rewards, and events will be available at specific times during the beta, with the full list available here.

Phantasy Star Online 2 was originally released for PC in Japan in 2012, with versions later made available for PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. The game, and its predecessor Phantasy Star Online, are spin-offs to the main Phantasy Star series, taking place in a separate galaxy. At present, the game is only confirmed for release on Xbox One in spring 2020 and on Windows 10 later in 2020, with no confirmation regarding a potential release in Europe. The North American release will be free-to-play without any restrictions and include all content from the Japanese version.
