Language-Learning RPG Shujinkou Announced

Rice Games has announced that Shujinkou, a new education-oriented action RPG, is in development. While there is no release date, the game will undergo a Kickstarter campaign starting on October 1, 2019, and is planned to head to PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Shujinkou, stars three characters appropriately named Shu, Jin, and Kou and combines mini-games that teach players the Japanese language with RPG elements. The below trailer shows early gameplay footage of the three characters as they interact with the set pieces, and explores some of the methods the game will use to teach the player.

    Shujinkou means “main character” or “protagonist” in Japanese, so it’s an apt name for a language-learning game.
