The Dark Eye: Book of Heroes Announced

Wild River Games announced that it is working with Finnish developer Random Potion to create The Dark Eye: Book of Heroes for PC. The Dark Eye series, which originated in Germany, features over three decades’ worth of pen-and-paper RPGs and numerous video game adaptations, including the Realms of Arkania series. Below is a trailer with gameplay footage from Book of Heroes, which will come with English and German language options.

The Dark Eye: Book of Heroes is a top-down RPG with the ability for four players to explore the world of Aventuria together. Wild River Games is working with the series’ tabletop games’ publisher, Ulisses Spiele, to ensure the game captures the essence of the long-standing series. The game is set to release in the spring of 2020.

Dark Eye is the German Pen & Paper game that’s as big as D&D… it’s low fantasy instead of high fantasy, and goes into great detail when it comes to stats and the such. I hope to play it properly when I have more time and retire. Several DE games have come out in the past, but I have not had a chance to give them a fair shake. This look intriguing, though I wish they would make this turn based, like the pen and paper, instead of real time. SIGH. They’ve done it to D&D, and Pathfinder, so CERTAINLY real time MUST be the way to go! EVIL. Anywho, it looks worth keepin’ an eye on.
