Sunless Skies Gets Honking New Updates

Failbetter Games has released a free new update for exploration-focused adventure RPG Sunless Skies. The update includes the addition of the second most requested feature: a horn for the player’s interplanetary locomotive. It also features new attacks for creatures and locomotives, as well as an improved UI, visual updates, and an adjustment to the encounter variety in the region of Eleutheria.

The developer also announced the next major update for the game, which is titled Hoarders. The Hoarders update will include a new officer called the Chiropterous Hoarder, a winged horror of profound cunning and unreliable manners; the ability for players to upgrade their engine; the ability to construct a transit relay; and other features that have not yet been confirmed. It is expected to be released in September.

Set in the Fallen London universe, Sunless Skies is the follow-up to Sunless Sea, taking place in space following London’s expansion into the final frontier. The game was fully launched for PC, Mac, and Linux in January 2019 after undergoing a successful Kickstarter campaign and period on Steam Early Access.
