Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Teases a Cold Front

Obsidian Entertainment has announced the first expansion for Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire. The expansion, known as Beast of Winter, will take the Watcher and company to the southernmost reach of the Deadfire Archipelago where they encounter a doomsday cult bent on having the Watcher fulfill its end times prophecy. A free update to the game was also announced. This 2.0 patch, titled The Deck of Many Things, brings about numerous bug fixes and game improvements, adds additional challenges for players, and will bring a mysterious ship to the game that sells unique magic items found on its journeys east. Both Beast of Winter and The Deck of Many Things will release on August 2, 2018, for PC and Mac.

Released earlier this year, Pillars of Eternity II takes players to the Deadfire Archipelago in search of a god who, as it awoke, destroyed their keep. The change in location adds a seafaring element to the game as players take command of a ship, hire up a crew, and sail the islands in search of the wandering god.
