Pillars of Eternity II Adding a Turn-Based Mode

Obsidian has revealed that it will be adding a new turn-based mode to Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire. Arriving on January 24, 2019, the overhaul will give players the choice to play through the entire game with either the traditional real-time-with-pause or the updated turn-based combat. The new combat is said to be inspired by Divinity: Original Sin II, hoping to both bring in a new players turned off by the game’s original combat and returning players looking for a new challenge.

Released in the summer of last year on PC and Mac, Pillars of Eternity II follows the player as they chase a rogue god through the Deadfire Archipelago. PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch versions of the game are set to be released in 2019 with all the expansions, updates, and DLC from the PC and Mac versions included.
