Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Switch Release Scrapped

The planned Nintendo Switch version of Obsidian Entertainment’s Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire has reportedly been cancelled. The cancellation was revealed in a post on publisher Versus Evil’s Discord server.

A sequel to 2015 title Pillars of Eternity, Deadfire takes place five years after the events of the first game in the eponymous Deadfire Archipelago. Players are tasked with investigating and pursuing the god Eothas after his sudden revival. The game originally released for PC in 2019, with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions released in 2020. While the previous game was released for Nintendo Switch, publisher Versus Evil announced it was suspending updates on the game in 2021 due to hardware limitations.
