Ys VIII Washed Ashore for Switch Owners

Nintendo Switch owners who have missed out on Nihon Falcom’s well-received action RPG Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, despite it seeing releases on multiple platforms since its first publication, or those that simply want to give the game a second go, now have their chance. The game’s latest iteration is now available in North America and Japan, with Europe receiving the game on Friday, June 29.

Developed to coincide with the series 30th anniversary, Ys VIII tells the story of franchise mainstay Adol Christin, who this time finds himself stranded on the mysterious Isle of Seiren, where he and his companions must bind together to survive and uncover the island’s secret. The version released on Switch is the same enhanced version previously available on the PlayStation 4, meaning it comes bundled with 18 pieces of DLC, as well as the graphical upgrades and bonus content featured on the PS4. Publisher NIS America has released an official launch trailer, and readers can already check out Joshua Carpenter’s Switch impression or Charalampos Papadimitriou’s original PS4 review.

This will most likely be the version I end up playing.

Same here. Makes sense. It’s the most polished, and has the advantage of portability. If you haven’t played it yet, and own a Switch, it’s a no-brainer.
