System Shock’s Reboot Currently on Hold

Nightdive Studios’ has revealed that development on its Kickstarter-funded reboot of System Shock is currently on hold. In a post on the campaign page, CEO Stephen Kirk stated that the game’s vision had moved from its original remaster to becoming something more original and that he has put the team on hiatus to refocus the game’s development.

System Shock was originally released in 1994, with the remake being successfully crowdfunded on Kickstarter last year with plans for release Xbox One, PC, and eventually PlayStation 4. The game is one of the earliest FPS-RPG hybrids, where the player finds themselves stuck on the Citadel, a space station, in the year 2072.
