Nintendo Announces Nintendo Switch Lite
Nintendo has announced a new edition of the Nintendo Switch console, the Nintendo Switch Lite. The Nintendo Switch Lite is dedicated specifically to the original console’s handheld mode. With the Switch Lite focusing on handheld mode, it will not connect to TVs and the controls are completely integrated as part of the device, with the direction buttons now replaced with a D-pad. The controls will also not include HD rumble or IR motion camera functionality, and games that require motion controls will require separate Joy-Cons. A full list of differences can be found on Nintendo’s website.
The Nintendo Switch Lite will be released worldwide, priced at $199.99, on September 20, 2019. It will initially be available in three colours: yellow, grey, and turquoise. Nintendo and the Pokémon Company have also announced a Nintendo Switch Lite Zacian and Zamazenta Edition that will launch on November 8, 2019, a week before the release of Pokémon Sword and Shield.
