Calamity Angels: Special Delivery sees players leading a rag-tag group of couriers as they cross terrains and deal with monsters while looking to become the best delivery service in the region. The region makes use of Omoi Power, an energy that is generated by people’s feelings or thoughts, which is used to support its infrastructure and maintain monster-repelling barriers. Players are tasked with delivering packages around the region; each package takes up space in the delivery bag, which is also used to hold any potions or other useful items. Players traverse the region in a roulette-style board game, and if they reach the destination while their package still hold the Omoi Power given by its sender, they obtain a bonus.
The game’s combat system sees players giving out commands to their party members. However, teammates may not react favourably to those commands, and may choose to ignore them. Each party member has their own preferences for locations, foes, and commands, as well as a variable mood, which will impact whether they elect to follow commands. Players will also encounter special enemies called Omoikurai that feed on Omoi Power and can only be defeated using Relic Weapons; defeating them greatly restores the Omoi Power of the player’s current package.
