New Release Round-Up (June 26, 2025)

Welcome to RPGamer’s new release round-up. In this column, we look to provide our readers with details on the major RPGs released in the last week. Please note we do not currently include Early Access releases where the game is still in development. Pricing is shown in US dollars before application of any discounts, local pricing may vary.


EGGCONSOLE Madō Monogatari 1-2-3 MSX2

A new part of D4 Enterprise’s EGGCONSOLE retro re-release series, Madō Monogatari 1-2-3 is the first entry in the Madō Monogatari dungeon-crawling series. It originally released for the MSX2 home computer in Japan in 1990 and follows mage-in-training Arle Nadja as she takes her exam to graduate from kindergarten. Like other EGGCONSOLE releases, the Nintendo Switch version has the main game and gallery screen in Japanese while the menu and “how to play” screens are in English.


Front Mission 3: Remake

Front Mission 3: Remake is a remake of the third entry in the Square mecha tactical RPG series. The game is set in Southeast Asia in the year 2112, during a cold war between the Oceania Cooperative Union (OCU) and the People’s Republic of Da Han Zhong (DHZ), with the United States of the New Continent (UNC) sending in peacekeeping forces to resolve separatist conflicts. Its story follows Japanese wanzer test pilot Kazuki Takemura after a mysterious explosion occurs at a base, with the game splitting into two different scenarios — one for the DHZ and one for the UNC — depending on a choice made at the start of the game.


Gales of Nayeli

Gales of Nayeli is a grid-based fantasy strategy RPG. It follows Nayeli, chieftain-to-be of the Gaowaga, who embarks on a journey to save the world of Iuven as corruption and darkness spread. The game features over 35 recruitable, with players able to impact character growth through both story choices and skill scrolls.


Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon

Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon is inspired by 16-bit dungeon-crawlers and is set after the events of adventure RPG Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm. Players control a band of adventurers aiming to restore the world by retrieving a powerful artifact called the Paradigm Hourglass from the titular Chronos Dungeon, which features randomised floors.


Persona 5: The Phantom X

Persona 5: The Phantom X is developed by Perfect World’s Black Wings Game Studio under supervision from Atlus, and originally released for mobile in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Korea in 2024. The game is set in the same modern-day Tokyo as Persona 5, though it features a new set of Phantom Thieves led by a new protagonist codenamed Wonder. It features a new story where desires have been lost as well as various side events and stories, with the original Phantom Thieves appearing in special contracts. The game features similar dungeon-crawling and social sim elements to Persona 5, including new palaces, Personas, modes, and mini-games, while other elements have been adapted.


Shuffle Tactics

Tactical deckbuilding RPG Shuffle Tactics takes place in the medieval world of Asteria, where King Ogma brought a curse upon his own kingdom after a failed attempt to resurrect his deceased wife. The resulting curse turned the king and his subjects into malevolent creatures while granting special powers to the player-controlled heroes, who are tasked with saving the cursed kingdom. Combat takes place on isometric maps, where the units’ placement grants various bonuses or penalties. Players can hire sidekicks to aid them in battle, each possessing their own forte across a range of disciplines including magic, healing, and archery.


System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster

System Shock 2 takes place in 2114, 42 years after the events of the first game. The game puts players on the faster-than-light starship, the Von Braun, on its maiden voyage and its accompanying ship, the Rickenbacker. During the voyage, the ships respond to a distress signal from an alien planet, which results in them being taken over by a force dubbed the Many. The 25th Anniversary Remaster version will include completely remastered visuals, including cutscenes and weapon and character models. It also includes an adjustable FOV, post-processing effects, ultra-widescreen support, cross-play co-op multiplayer, and full mod support on PC. A console release is currently expected in early July.


Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate

Action roguelite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate features four-player co-op as the turtles set out to rescue Splinter from the clutches of the Foot Clan, travelling to various locales through mysterious portals.
