System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster Console Release Pushed Back
Nightdive Studios announced a slight delay for the console release of System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster. Previously planned to launch alongside the PC version on June 26, 2025, the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch versions are now planned to release in the first half of July. Nightdive Studios stated the delay is due to certification process on certain platforms. The PC release is unaffected.
System Shock 2 takes place in 2114, 42 years after the events of the first game. The game puts players on the faster-than-light starship, the Von Braun, on its maiden voyage and its accompanying ship, the Rickenbacker. During the voyage, the ships respond to a distress signal from an alien planet, which results in them being taken over by a force dubbed the Many. The 25th Anniversary Remaster version will include completely remastered visuals, including cutscenes and weapon and character models, with up to 4K 144fps support on PC and up to 120fps on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It will also include an adjustable FOV, post-processing effects, ultra-widescreen support, cross-play co-op multiplayer, and full mod support on PC.
