New Release Round-Up (February 16, 2023)
Welcome to RPGamer’s new release round-up. In this column we look to provide our readers with details on all of the RPGs released over the week. Please note we do not currently include Early Access releases where the game is still in development, with this edition also including entries missed in the column’s absence last week.
Arcadia Fallen is a visual novel with RPG elements set in a fantasy world where players control an apprentice alchemist (with customisable appearance and gender) bound to an illegal spirit who is drawn into a war between humanity and magic forces. Gameplay is heavily dialogue-focused, with players choosing responses often assigned particular moods or tones. Those looking to read more about Arcadia Fallen can check out RPGamer’s review of the PC version.
Boyfriend Dungeon is an action RPG/dating sim that features different weapons that transform into humans (and a cat). Players earn cash by using these weapons to slay creatures in “the dunj”, using that cash to go on dates with them and build up their relationships. Those looking to read more about Boyfriend Dungeon can check out Sam Wachter’s review of the Nintendo Switch version.
Elderand is an action side-scrolling RPG. Players explore a twisted Lovecraftian world, customising their character build with different skills, stats, and weapons. It features over 60 enemy types and around a dozen bosses.
Heirs of the Kings
Retro-styled turn-based RPG Heirs of the Kings follows Grant, who encounters a girl named Laura being pursued by soldiers and who can mysteriously use high-level magic. He learns from her that the world is in peril from the Forces of Darkness and sets out with her on a journey.
Labyrinth of Galleria: The Moon Society
Dungeon-crawler Labyrinth of Galleria: The Moon Society is a follow-up to Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk. The game features a brand new cast and is set in a remote estate that is said to have a labyrinth filled with mysterious treasures. Madame Marta and her assistant Eureka travel to the estate to investigate the labyrinth, tasking players with exploring the labyrinth using soul-infused puppets.
Nadir: A Grimdark Deckbuilder
Nadir: A Grimdark Deckbuilder is a roguelike deckbuilder drawing inspiration from Dante’s Divine Comedy as well as Slay the Spire and Darkest Dungeon. It puts players in charge of three powerful characters known as Avatars, and set in the eponymous city of Nadir, which is home to the souls of the damned and has multiple levels extending into the abyss, with a great power lying at the bottom. Each level features its own theme and includes enemy types and challenges, with players only having a certain amount of time on each floor.
Perseus: Titan Slayer
Perseus: Titan Slayer is based on Greek mythology and sees players controlling the eponymous demigod as he battles his way through Tartarus to stop Hades from conquering Olympus. The game features hack-and-slash combat with players able to wield a sword, dagger, bow, or katana, and create their own character builds. It also includes branching choices, and players can obtain legendary upgrades from various Olympian gods.
Souls of Chronos
Souls of Chronos is an action RPG set fifteen years after an apocalyptic event. It begins in the harbour town of Astella and follows a young boy named Sid and a young girl named Tori. Tori is a Chronus, one with powers over time who are bonded to a human partner known as a Linked through a pact. Sid is looking to escape the town and explore the wider world, which he does as he becomes involved in a case that threatens to upend the world.

Tales of Symphonia follows Lloyd Irving, who accompanies his childhood friend Colette Brunel as she embarks on a journey of world regeneration to save their world of Sylvarant. The game features action, combo-focused combat with a mixture of 2D and 3D roaming elements, with the remaster including the original GameCube version’s four-player local co-op.
