Darkest Dungeon II Adds Free Secrets of the Coven Module

Red Hook Studios released a new free PC and Mac update for Darkest Dungeon II. The update features Secrets of the Coven, the second of the three planned adventure modules for the game’s Kingdoms mode. Kingdoms mode sees players take on themed modules where they are tasked with defending the realm and its inn network from incursions by new enemy factions. The module is said to feature different pacing, mechanics, and quest flow to the previous module, in addition to its enemy faction.

A follow-up to 2016 turn-based roguelike Darkest Dungeon, Darkest Dungeon II sees players tasked with guiding a stagecoach expedition across a decaying landscape to try and avert the apocalypse. The game features a refined version of the previous game’s combat with a new Token System. Each failed run grants resources that can be used on upgrades for future attempts. The game also includes an affinity system between party members, and players can learn more about their heroes’ backstories.
