Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Introduces Gustave
Developer Sandfall Interactive and publisher Kepler Interactive released a new trailer for their upcoming title Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The minute-long video, said to be the first of a series introducing the main cast, presents protagonist Gustave, who is voiced in English by Charlie Cox and in French by Alexandre Gillet. Gustave is a former engineer who devoted his life to the city of Lumière’s defense and agricultural systems. His primary motivation for joining the expedition is to secure a future for the children of Lumière.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a turn-based RPG set in a world where, once a year, a being called the Paintress wakes and paints a cursed number upon a monolith, which causes everyone of that age to turn to smoke and disappear. Each year, that number ticks down, with the current year set to be the number 33. Players join Gustave and other members of an expedition that sets out, in the footsteps of previous failed expeditions, to try and end the cycle of death once and for all. Players will be able to create their own builds for their party with gear, attributes, skills, and synergies. Combat will utilise a free aim system to let players target weak points, as well as to dodge, parry, and counter in real time. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 will release on April 24, 2025, for PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
