Monster Hunter Wilds Gets Launch Media, Post-Launch Updates Teased
Capcom released early launch media for the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds ahead of its release this month. The new trailer and screenshots include looks at flagship monster Arkveld, the Iceshard Cliffs’ flagship monster Jin Dahaad, and a mysterious Rathalos that is unlike any of those seen before.
In addition, Capcom teased details for the first planned post-launch update for the game. The first major update will release in spring 2025 and see the arrival of returning monster Mizutsune, the Leviathan that utilises immobilising bubbles. Special Event Quests will also be released starting the week after launch, letting players obtain special armour as rewards. Furthermore, the company announced that the second session for the second open beta test will be extended by a day, now taking place from February 13 (7pm PST) to February 17 (6:59pm PST), 2025.
Monster Hunter Wilds will release on February 28, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game sees players joining a special Research Commission investigating an area called the Forbidden Lands. In addition to including seamless transitions from story sequences into gameplay, the game also adds new Seikret mounts, which can guide the riders to planned destinations and let them perform actions while riding, such as sharpening weapons and gathering materials, while also allowing players to swap to a secondary weapon without needing to return to base.
