Maliki: Poison of the Past Shows Its Gameplay

Publisher Ankama and developer Blue Banshee released a new video for their turn-based RPG Maliki: Poison of the Past. The three-minute video sees Blue Banshee CEO Etienne Jacquemain and Game Designer ClĂ©ment Gastaldo discussing the title’s gameplay. In addition, the company announced it is taking part to the current Steam Next Fest, with a free demo available until March 3, 2025.

Maliki: Poison of the Past is set in the near future, where humanity is on the edge of extinction after being subjugated by Poison, a plant monster able to alter the space-time continuum. The pink-haired Maliki leads a handful of survivors from the Domain, a haven outside of time. The game features turn-based combat and puzzles with time-manipulation elements, as well as letting players plant, harvest, cook, and nurture the Thousand Roots Tree back at the Domain. Maliki: Poison of the Past will launch on April 22, 2025, for PC (via Steam and the Ankama launcher) and Nintendo Switch.

Fascinated by the screens since I saw them, video games are a sorcery I quickly became obsessed with. This passion culminated with the discovery of the RPGs. At that time, they were likely the sole titles where story and world building mattered as much as gameplay. Now, I am writing about them, especially my favorite ones: the JRPGs!
