Fretless: The Wrath of Riffson Gets Release Window

Publisher Playdigious and developer Ritual Studios revealed a release window for deckbuilding turn-based RPG Fretless: The Wrath of Riffson. The title will release this spring for PC via Steam, GOG.com, and the Epic Games Store. In addition, the companies announced the musician Davie 504 will be featured in the game alongside the previously unveiled Northlane and Andrew Huang.

Fretless: The Wrath of Riffson takes place in a setting inspired by musician Rob Scallon, as players aim to restore harmony to a world where every element creates its own music. Its main antagonist is Rick Riffson, boss of the evil Super Metal Records company, who is using a Battle of the Bands contest to trap musicians with soul-binding contracts.

Fretless sees players amassing their own collection of riffs, being able to add them to their deck and unleash powerful solos. Players can also select their preferred instrument, and customise it with bridges, strings, and more. A demo of the game is currently available on Steam as part of the Steam Next Fest running until March 3, 2025.

Fascinated by the screens since I saw them, video games are a sorcery I quickly became obsessed with. This passion culminated with the discovery of the RPGs. At that time, they were likely the sole titles where story and world building mattered as much as gameplay. Now, I am writing about them, especially my favorite ones: the JRPGs!
