IfSunSets Reveals 2025 Update Plans
Smilegate revealed more details on its planned updates for the Steam Early Access version of survival RPG adventure IfSunSets. Various content and features are planned to be added throughout 2025, including:
- Expansion of multiplayer to up to four players (by end of February).
- Steam Deck and controller support.
- Additional main story quests, including the final boss battle.
- New regions and dungeons, including four ocean regions, a large island, an underwater temple, and the Tower of Night.
- New ocean-related content, including island conquests and naval battles.
- New animal-related features, including a farming system, animal companions, and a pet system.
- NPC affinity and romance systems.
- New buildings and automation tools.
A beta version of its four-player multiplayer will be available from today through February 5, 2025. Save data from the beta will not be compatible with the regular Early Access version builds, however. In addition, Smilegate is currently running a Lunar New Year sale on the game, with a 20% discount on its regular $19.99 price available until January 30, 2025.
Developed by Polymorph, IfSunSets takes place on the mysterious island of Luminora. The island was previously ruled by an ancient civilisation that managed to find an arcane way of extracting the life force of beings, but which fell to a curse that enveloped it in darkness. Players control a wanderer who washed up on the island centuries later and must uncover its secrets to be able to escape.
The game makes heavy use of its day/night cycle. During the day, players can explore the open-world island, hunting, farming, fishing, gathering materials, building defences, and fighting monsters and bosses. However, at night the game becomes more of a survival horror as swarms of monsters and undead stalk the player, who must try and survive until morning. The game includes different modes, including the ability to not have the undead appear.
