The Outer Worlds 2 Launching in 2025

Obsidian Entertainment and Xbox Game Studios announced that sci-fi RPG The Outer Worlds 2 will launch in 2025. The follow-up to The Outer Worlds will release for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with the developer revealing more details and new media for the game.

Set in the same universe as The Outer Worlds, The Outer Worlds 2 features a new player-created protagonist and crew of allies in a new star system. It takes place in the colony of Arcadia, with players controlling an Earth Directorate agent tasked with uncovering the source of devastating rifts threatening the galaxy. In addition, players will have to deal with a factional war between a group of supposed “benevolent rulers” called the Protectorate, a rebellious scientific religious order, and a corporate mega power.

The game will feature a similar character building system to the first game, with players assigning ability points, using skill checks in conversations, and taking on potential flaws. Players will have various choices in how they deal with situations and quests, including acting diplomatically or strategically, or simply causing chaos. Players will also recruit a crew of companions with their own individual storylines.
