Nihon Falcom Founder Masayuki Kato Passes Away

Developer Nihon Falcom announced that its founder, chairman, and former president Masayuki Kato has passed away at the age of 78. The wake and funeral will be held privately among close family members; the developer has asked for understanding as it respectfully declines visits, floral offerings, condolence gifts, incense offerings, and condolence telegrams at this time.

Nihon Falcom is known for developing the Ys and Legend of Heroes series. Masayuki Kato founded the studio in March 1981, serving as its first president from the studio’s founding until being succeeded by Toshihiro Kondo in 2007.
