Fairy Tail 2 Release Date Revealed

Koei Tecmo and Gust announced the release date for their upcoming action RPG Fairy Tail 2. The title is set to launch digitally for PC on December 11, 2024, while PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch versions will be available both physically and digitally on December 13, 2024. This announcement came with a new trailer and screenshots viewable below.

The physical release of Fairy Tail 2 comes in two editions, a Standard Edition and a Guild Box Edition, available for pre-order now. The Guild Box Edition is exclusively available on NIS America store for $124.99. It includes a physical copy of the game, the visual artbook “Sorcerer Magazine Special Issue: Game Release Edition Vol.2” inspired by the “Sorcerer Magazine” as seen in the manga, a shikishi with holographic finish, and more. A digital Deluxe Edition of the game, including additional in-game content, will be available to pre-order at a later date.

Fairy Tail 2 is developed by Gust. It is a sequel to 2020 release Fairy Tail, though will feature an action-based battle system, as opposed to the turn-based gameplay of the first title. The game will retell the Alvarez Empire Arc from the original manga in addition to including the original “The Key to the Unknown” storyline.

Fascinated by the screens since I saw them, video games are a sorcery I quickly became obsessed with. This passion culminated with the discovery of the RPGs. At that time, they were likely the sole titles where story and world building mattered as much as gameplay. Now, I am writing about them, especially my favorite ones: the JRPGs!
