Beyond Galaxyland Takes to the Stars in September

During the Future Games Show at Gamescom, publisher United Label revealed the release date for Sam Enright’s sci-fi adventure RPG Beyond Galaxyland. The title is set to launch on September 24, 2024, for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. This announcement came with a gameplay trailer viewable below.

Beyond Galaxyland takes place in a futuristic setting, where the Earth has been destroyed by a celestial being known as “The End”. Players assume the role of Doug, a human high school student who gets transported to a region of space called Galaxyland prior to the Earth’s destruction. Aided by multiple companions, including upgraded guinea pig Boom Boom and the robot Martybot, Doug seeks to uncover the true nature of Galaxyland and undo the demise of his home planet.

Beyond Galaxyland features 2.5D locations and blends platforming, puzzle solving, and turn-based combat, with classic RPGs such as Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VII cited as the game’s inspirations. During battle, players can minimise damage taken with timed button presses at key moments, while each party member possesses unique abilities. The game features different planets to explore and various creatures to capture then use in battle.

Fascinated by the screens since I saw them, video games are a sorcery I quickly became obsessed with. This passion culminated with the discovery of the RPGs. At that time, they were likely the sole titles where story and world building mattered as much as gameplay. Now, I am writing about them, especially my favorite ones: the JRPGs!
