Wildermyth Coming to Consoles

Publisher Auroch Digital and developer Worldwalker Games announced a console release for Wildermyth. The console versions of the turn-based tactical RPG, known as Wildermyth: Console Edition, will release on October 22, 2024, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|X, and Nintendo Switch.

Wildermyth: Console Edition will have updated UI and controls, as well as exclusive features including local co-op multiplayer and a Monster Compendium. The co-op multiplayer will allow each player to take control of multiple characters in a shared story experience. The Monster Compendium will provide information about the enemies encountered such as their affiliation and other lore-related details.

In addition to digital releases on all platforms, Wildermyth: Console Edition will be available physically from select retailers for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. The physical edition will come with a physical copy of the game’s Monster Compendium and off-hand items such as torches, shields, and more.

Wildermyth is billed as a procedurally generated storytelling RPG taking inspirations from Dungeons & Dragons and XCOM. Players lead a band of heroes, with each hero having their own background. Choices through the adventure affect paths and relationships of the characters, which age and eventually die letting the player control the retired or deceased adventurers’ progeny. Past heroes can also go into the player’s legacy pool and show up in future playthroughs. Wildermyth is currently available on PC, Mac, and Linux via Steam. Fascinated by the screens since I saw them, video games are a sorcery I quickly became obsessed with. This passion culminated with the discovery of the RPGs. At that time, they were likely the sole titles where story and world building mattered as much as gameplay. Now, I am writing about them, especially my favorite ones: the JRPGs!

Ive always wanted to try this, but I saw it online once but it looks a bit too difficult for my taste.
