More Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake Media, Details Released

Square Enix released additional images and information for the upcoming Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake. The game is a remake of Dragon Quest III, which was released for the Famicom in Japan in 1988 before making its western debut in 1992, and utilises the HD-2D graphics style previously used in Octopath Traveler and Triangle Strategy. The game is the third title in the connected Erdrick saga, but takes place prior to the events of its predecessors, with the other two games set get new releases as Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake next year.

Dragon Quest III begins in the kingdom of Aliahan, with players controlling the son or daughter of the great hero Ortega. On their sixteenth birthday, they are given an order by the king to slay the Archfiend Baramos, a task that Ortega could not complete. Their journey takes them across the world, visiting various towns, castles, caves, and towers. The game will feature a day-night cycle while exploring, and players will be able to use a ship to travel across the seas. It retains the series’ traditional turn-based combat system, with the party having access to various spells and abilities.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake will release on November 14, 2024. It will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. Physical and digital pre-orders are available now, including a Collector’s Edition that features a set of character and monster acrylic blocks plus other bonus items.
