Touhou Spell Carnival Opening Movie Released

Compile Heart has released the opening movie for Sting-developed tactical RPG Touhou Spell Carnival. The video features the theme song “Scarlet Destiny”, performed by Japanese rock band Kisida Kyodan & the Akebosi Rockets. The game is set to release in Japan for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch on June 6, 2024, after being recently delayed from its previously planned April launch date.

Touhou Spell Carnival takes place in the Touhou series’ regular setting of Gensokyo, a land isolated from the outside world where humans and yokai reside. The game sees shrine maiden Reimu Hakurei drawn into a festival to battle for shrine cards and discover the purpose behind mysterious pillars that have appeared across the land. It features bullet hell elements within its gameplay.
