BattleCakes Now Available on Early Access

Developer Volcano Bean has released its turn-based RPG BattleCakes on Steam Early Access for PC and Mac. The game had been planned to get a full release, but the developer stated that it has elected to switch to an Early Access release to allow players to get their hands on the game while avoiding a crunch cycle and potential ramifications on the final product. The Early Access version is available for $14.99, while the full release will be priced at $19.99.

The initial Early Access version contains all of the game’s major systems and lets players go through around the first third of the game, including its first two major towns plus their associated dungeons and surroundings. Content updates are planned to be released on a roughly bi-weekly basis with some flexibility. The full release is currently expected in around three months.

BattleCakes takes players to the confectionery-themed world of Pasteleria where they control customisable cupcake hero Birthday Sprinkle. Joined by friends Red Velvet, Midnight Truffle, and more, they investigate various mysteries and hardships in nearby towns, battling or befriending monsters along the way.
