Anodyne Remaster Available Now

Analgesic Productions announced that a remastered version of retro adventure RPG Anodyne is now available. The remastered version of the game, which originally released in 2013, is available on PC, Mac, and Linux through Steam, GOG.com, and itch.io. Owners of the original have free access to the remastered version. Consoles will receive the remaster in 2024.

The remastered version includes support for Linux and 60 fps, with an optional 30 fps mode also available. It also adds a new Boss Rush mode, controller support and input binding, new mini-maps and floor number information, and approachability options. The original release is still available to download, though save files do not transfer between versions.

Anodyne is billed as a “Zelda-lite game” with Game Boy-era inspired dungeons. Players work through various areas of a human named Young’s subconscious. As they explore the world and collect mysterious cards, more portals open up within the Nexus that connects the different parts of his mind. A follow-up, Anodyne 2: Return to Dust, released in August 2019.
