The hour-long presentation, viewable full below with an English audio translation, features over thirty minutes of gameplay footage. The footage showed the open Grasslands area, which includes towns and dungeons within it. Square Enix also released a new set of related screenshots.

Players will be able to change party members seamlessly while exploring, with Red XIII joining as a fully playable member, with the game also including a new synergy system between party members allowing for more combination attacks. Rebirth will also include item crafting using ingredients found throughout the world and field, as well as fast travel Chocobo stops can be found across the area. Players can also rent Chocobos from the Chocobo Ranch after capturing one; different Chocobos can have special characteristics such as being able to climb steep hills or even fly, and can be customisted.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will feature multiple side quests and mini-games including the return of Chadley from Final Fantasy VII Remake, who will help players explore the map using communication towers. In addition to side quests obtained through events and talking to characters, players can find requests on a board. Meanwhile, new mini-games include a card titled “Queen’s Blood” and playing the piano.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the second part of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy and is set to release for PlayStation 5 on February 29, 2024. Taking place after the events of Remake, it sees the party venturing in pursuit of Sephiroth, a vengeful swordsman thought to be dead. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be available as a standalone title, with its physical version to be spread over two discs.
