I suppose my most recent palette cleanser game is Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker. Devil Survivor Overclocked also used to be one. These days, though, I feel the need to move on to a game I haven’t played before and haven’t replayed something for a long time.
If I’m between games and feeling uninspired, I’ll usually cross-check my backlog with How Long to Beat to find something short – or just play some Picross. There’s always Picross.
For some reason, when I don’t know what to play, or need an in-between game, I almost always end up replaying the original Tomb Raider. I’ve replayed that game many, many times in the past few years.
Most of my palette cleanser games have been Visual Novels lately between the JRPGS I play, any nonjrpg game is doing me well as it just gives me a cool down from playing all JRPGS, and Visual Novels games are mostly short.
QOTW: My palette cleanser game(s) are the game boy Legend of Zelda games; Link’s Awakening, Oracle of Ages, and Oracle of Seasons. They’re most everything I love about LoZ games but shrunken down into a format I can finish in a few sittings, they fill me with that nostalgic joy, and put me in a better mood to go on to the next thing.
Btw, because I hope y’all are gonna talk about that trailer that got shown during the Playstation Showcase, is anyone on the cast excited for Dragon’s Dogma 2 and will be playing it on PC/Steam so we can borrow each other’s Pawns? 😁😁😁
I tend to lean towards something cute and short. Or something a little more chill. The first Voice of the Cards was a pretty good palette cleanser. Sometimes I’ll also play something like FF4
