Dicebuilding Roguelike Tamarak Trail Launching in Q2 2023

Publisher Versus Evil and developer Yarrow Games have announced Tamarak Trail will launch in Q2 2023. The game is a dicebuilding turn-based roguelike that will release for PC via Steam.

Tamarak Trail is set in a decaying world, with players controlling a member of a secret society named the Sturgeon Lodge who sets out to uncover the mystery and source of the corruption. Players can choose one of three characters — the Magician, the Tracker, or the Detective — with their own class and abilities. As players travel down procedurally-generated paths they encounter events, monsters, campsites, treasure, and more that can grant them new bonuses and abilities.

The game’s turn-based combat makes use of customisable dice. Players need to reduce enemy defences to inflict wounds while trying to avoid the same happening to them. Rolling the dice determine player’s potential actions each turn, which include direct attacks, damage over time, buffs, debuffs, and defence. The dice can interact with each other, with bounces sometimes able to grant additional bonuses and power. As players progress they can apply newly-gained abilities to individual sides of each die.
