Record of Agarest War Heading to Switch

Aksys Games announced that it is releasing Record of Agarest War on Nintendo Switch. The tactical RPG, developed by Compile Heart and Red Entertainment, will release on the console on Nintendo Switch in March 2023. It will be available both digitally and physically, including a to-be-revealed limited edition.

Record of Agarest War was originally released for PlayStation 3 in Japan in 2007, followed by an Xbox 360 version in 2008. The game was brought to PlayStation 3 in Europe by Ghostlight in 2009 under the title Agarest: Generations of War, with Aksys Games releasing the game for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in North America in 2010. Ghostlight later released the game for PC worldwide, again as Agarest: Generations of War, with HyperDevbox also releasing iOS and Android versions.

Record of Agarest War features tactical battles as players travel between different locations in its fantasy world. The game sees players controlling multiple generations of protagonists through its “Soul Breed” system, where the current protagonist is able to form a relationship with and marry one of their female companions, with their offspring becoming the next protagonist. The game received a prequel titled Record of Agarest War Zero, as well as standalone follow-up Record of Agarest War 2 and spin-off Record of Agarest War: Mariage.
