Fairy Fencer F: Refrain Chord Gets New Japanese Trailer

Compile Heart released a new trailer for its upcoming title Fairy Fencer F: Refrain Chord, which is being developed in partnership with studio Sting. The nearly four-minute video introduces the game’s characters, many of whom appeared in Compile Heart’s previous title Fairy Fencer F and its enhanced release Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force. It also shows the game’s tactical combat system, which makes use of elevation difference and character direction. It also retains the previous titles’ Fairize system, where characters enter a powered-up state and gain access to special abilities.

It is not clear at this point if or how the story in Fairy Fencer F: Refrain Chord is connected to the previous titles. It does introduce characters called Divas, who are able to utilise the powers of song for various effects including healing and brainwashing. It is set to release for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch in Japan on September 15, 2022. A western release has not been announced at this time.
