Batora: Lost Haven Gets Gameplay Primer

Publisher Team17 and developer Stormind Games released a new gameplay video for action RPG Batora: Lost Haven. The three-minute video is narrated by Narrative Director Giacomo Masi. It introduces the planet of air Huav, one of the four worlds representing the natural elements. Huav contains five distinct regions including a scorching desert, a frozen mountain, and a mystical river. The planets are inspired by real-world locations and cultures, with Huav drawing from Chinese mythology.

The video also introduces the game’s dual combat styles. Protagonist Avril is able to switch been physical and mental forms. In her physical form, she can use her sword for melee attacks, while her mental form lets her use projectile attacks. She can freely switch between forms and needs to do so to defeat enemies with each one coming in physical, mental, or hybrid form. Switching forms is also used for puzzles; for example, a memory puzzle tasks Avril with reproducing a sequence of notes using the same combination of physical and mental strikes.

Avril herself is a 16-year-old girl who travels between planets on her quest to save a dying Earth. The game will feature numerous decisions throughout that will impact Avril’s personality and result in different story outcomes and endings. Batora: Lost Haven is set to release for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch in fall 2022.
