RPG Cast – Episode 604: “Press 5 for More Rune Factory”
It’s the RPGCast trio bringing you another week of mild insanity. Kelley struggles because Japanese names are hard. Chris wants to take all the cats camping, but Anna Marie swiftly vetoes the idea. The dad jokes arrive in full force, and everyone’s thinking about vacations.
Question of the Week
What’s your dream “gaming vacation?” Where would you go and what system would you take?

From the sassy intro onwards, this might be one of the best RPGcasts yet! For a perfect gaming vacation, I like the idea of a cabin in the Swedish woods around December. Get out during the day, then long, dark evenings inside, real fire, and all the pre-Christmas paraphernalia. I’ll copy Kelly’s idea and play SMTV on my Switch, or grab my 3DS and catch up on a bunch of other Atlus games.
I feel like I get my dream gaming vacation every summer. We head up to the mountains of North Carolina & hike and hit up lots of local breweries during the day. Hiking wears the kids out, so they pass out quickly or stay up occupied with their cousins & then sleep in. Either way… I’m free to game until late night knowing I can sleep in too!
Nights then are 4-6 straight hours of game time. I’ve beaten Dragon Quest Builders in about 10 days, powered through Persona Q and Persona 4 in a couple weeks each, sunk 70 hours into some Dragon Quest Monsters games, Stardew Valley & Graveyard Keeper, all while on vacation. I can mark my summers by which game I plowed through the most during my vacation.
The word of this cast was “confidence.” The consolation prize goes to “skeptical.” 😆
QotW: I’d like to make it a staycation for however long it takes me to beat the Trails of Cold Steel games in order. I guess bringing the Switch with me to Japan would be a nice consolation, especially if I could bring it to Super Nintendo World.
A general vacation where I can hike outdoor in the day and stay inside in a cabin in the evening. It would be nice to spend a week or extended weekend in the Catskills mountains. Although knowing my sleeping habits these days, I may end up hiking and crashing early that evening, but I could always alternate hiking and gaming days, heh. I don’t know if such places exist, but staying at a resort and spa with nearby hiking trails where I could hike, soak, then play game sounds great, too.
As for what I’d take, I have loads of games I haven’t touched on the Switch and keep wanting to get around to.
