Nippon Ichi Announces Shikabanegurai no Boukenmeshi

Nippon Ichi Software announced a new dungeon strategy RPG, Shikabanegurai no Boukenmeshi. The game, the title of which translates to “Eating the Corpses as an Adventure Meal”, will release for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in Japan on January 27, 2022.

Shikabanegurai no Boukenmeshi follows a group of adventurers who become stranded in a large dungeon and need to survive using whatever resources they can find, including eating monsters it defeats. Players create their own four-person party, selecting their hair, faces, voices, and jobs, though changes can be made using crafting and items.

Players freely move around the dungeon, harvesting plants and gathering materials while fighting monsters. As they get deeper in the dungeon, monsters get more powerful but better materials become available. Calories and hydration will drop as players explore, and if these reach a critical state the party will be penalised in combat. When the party proceeds to a new floor they can camp and prepare themselves for the next floor by cooking. Dishes can be created by combining multiple ingredients with over 50 recipes available to create.

Combat is turn-based and uses a grid-based battlefield. Actions taken in combat will also use up calories and hydration. When a monster is defeated, players get ingredients and can choose to have their adventurers eat them to replenish calories and hydration and potentially gain an extra boost. Players can also potentially feed the ingredients to monsters that might weaken them.
