Capcom Details Monster Hunter Stories 2 Post-Launch Plans

Capcom held a pre-release presentation for Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. During the presentation, the company released new media for the game, as well as detailing its post-launch update plans.

The first title update will launch on July 15, 2021, and add the Palamute from Monster Hunter Rise as a ridable Monstie. The second update will launch on August 5, 2021, and add the gilded Elder Dragon Kulve Taroth as a co-op quest. Kulve Taroth will not be available as a Monstie, but materials from the quest can be used to craft new equipment. The second update will also add Hellblade Glavenus and Boltreaver Astalos as Monsties.

The third update is planned for early September 2021, introducing Soulseer Mizutsune, Elderfrost Gammoth, and Oroshi Kirin as new Monsties, with the fourth update following later in the month and adding Dreadking Rathalos and Molten Tigrex. The fourth update will also feature a new high-difficulty co-op quest with Kulve Taroth. The fifth and final update to be confirmed will launch in October 2021 and add Silver Rathalos and Gold Rathian, as well as a new challenging co-op quest featuring a yet-to-be-revealed monster.

A follow-up to Nintendo 3DS title Monster Hunter Stories, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is a turn-based spin-off to the Monster Hunter series that sees players control a Rider, someone who partners up with and raises monsters. Monster Hunter Stories 2 will release digitally and physically for Nintendo Switch and digitally for PC on July 9, 2021.
