Shin Megami Tensei V Screenshots Released

Atlus released some new screenshots for the upcoming Shin Megami Tensei V. In addition, the developer provided a few extra details about the game’s story and gameplay elements.

Shin Megami Tensei V’s protagonist is a third-year student at Jouin High School. When returning home through Shinagawa train station, he discovers a murder has occurred that blocks off the path. Searching for his friend from whom he has gotten separated from in the confusion, the protagonist enters a tunnel that collapses, awakening in the middle of a desert around a ruined Tokyo before being attacked by demons.

While trying to escape, the protagonist comes across a mysterious character named Aogami, who asks him to take his hand if he wishes to live. Upon contact, the two unite into a powerful being called a Nahobino, which is able to fight back against the demons in the barren version of Tokyo known as Da’at. The protagonist retains control of the body, while Aogami offers vocal guidance.

Shin Megami Tensei V will feature over 200 demons, including a mixture of returning and new demons. As in previous titles, players can recruit new demons as allies by negotiating with them. Players can also visit Sophia, the master of the World of Shadows, to create new demons. The game will feature new level-up mechanics, with more details to be released soon.

Shin Megami Tensei V is the fifth mainline title in the series, which has branched into numerous spin-offs including Persona. The game will release exclusively for Nintendo Switch in Japan on November 11, 2021, and in North America and Europe on November 12, 2021.
