Kickstarter Check-In: Holomento

Developer Sean Weech has begun a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for open-world permadeath RPG Holomento. The game, which has support from publisher Deck13, sees players passing through and trying to rebuild Eventide Hollow, a previously-picturesque kingdom. The land suffers a curse from an artefact called the Holomento, leading to darkness and strange creatures filling it. The Holomento binds itself to a traveler and traps their soul within it when they die, with the bearer unable to leave the hollow, before moving onto the hands of a new traveler.

The game sees players controlling generations of those travelers, each opening shortcuts, retrieving relics, or building things that can be used by future travelers. Players have access to a selection of starting classes, as well as a mixture of weapons including swords, bows, and grenade launchers.

Holomento’s campaign is looking for $30,000 in funding, and is set to run until April 16, 2021. Those who pledge at least $20 will receive a digital copy of the game as part of their backer rewards. Holomento is being developed for PC, with a Steam Early Access release currently planned for Q3 2021 and a full release set for Q1 2022.
