Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai Mobile Title Heading West

Square Enix announced an international release for Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai: A Hero’s Bonds. The game will launch for iOS and Android as a free-to-start title sometime in 2021. A closed beta test will take place in April 2021 for Android in Australia, Canada, England, France, Japan, New Zealand, and Singapore, with applications to participate being accepted until April 4, 2021.

Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai: A Hero’s Bonds is based on the Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai spin-off manga series that ran in Japan between 1989 and 1996 and subsequently received animated adaptations in 1991 and 2020. The game uses a real-time combat system with a three-lane battlefield and features co-op for up to three players.

Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai follows a young boy named Dai, who is the only human on an island populated by monsters and lives with his adoptive grandfather Brass and friend Gome. Events see him being instructed in becoming a hero after he saves a princess, before being forced to fight against the return of the Demon King Hadlar, who was thought defeated ten years before. In addition to the mobile title, action RPG Infinity Strash – Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai is also in development. Infinity Strash is planned to launch for unspecified consoles in Japan in 2021 and will see players controlling characters from The Adventure of Dai and facing off against monsters and other foes.
